I tried on the sambas, I really fell in love with these as soon as they were on my feet though. I'll probably be getting another pair soon.

They are pretty nice. I just don't always feel like carrying an extra pair of shoes or walking around in mtb shoes when I get where I'm going. The stiff bottoms are amazing though...

My current setup minus the seat post. Snapped while landing a bunny hop. Replaced it with a thompson elite.

Unfortunately some douches really do believe in that. If you're not 100% confident that you can stop the bike safely under all conditions without brakes then you absolutely should have them.

Yeah you huck it down pretty fast if you know what your doing. I've been riding fixed about three and a half years and brakeless for about two. you have to shift your weight off of the back wheel and you can slam down/back with your back foot and give a little yank up with your front foot and the wheel will lock up. I tend to do more of a series of skips, seems to be a lot easier on the tire.

You just gotta ride one for a couple of weeks and you'll understand the appeal. Once you start to get smooth you'll really feel like you're a part of the machine, its pretty cool.

If you want to build one, just make sure you start out with a track frame. Don't waste your time with conversions.

agreed, i wasted my time with 2 shitty conversions. theres nothing like a tight wheel based track frame. the real debate is aluminum or cromo?

really depends on what you'll be doing with it. my fuji track pro isn't the most comfortable thing on the streets.

Cant beat steel for street riding imo. Rides better and harder to break.
