fixed gear bicycle
I tried on the sambas, I really fell in love with these as soon as they were on my feet though. I'll probably be getting another pair soon.
They are pretty nice. I just don't always feel like carrying an extra pair of shoes or walking around in mtb shoes when I get where I'm going. The stiff bottoms are amazing though...
My current project for the track, just need a record pista chainset but car insurance has wiped me out.

Unfortunately some douches really do believe in that. If you're not 100% confident that you can stop the bike safely under all conditions without brakes then you absolutely should have them.
i was just being a jerk. lol.
but most of those fixed gear bikes, will they brake if u pedal backwards? i see a lot of them with no brake levers.
and those bike messengers be flying

Yeah you huck it down pretty fast if you know what your doing. I've been riding fixed about three and a half years and brakeless for about two. you have to shift your weight off of the back wheel and you can slam down/back with your back foot and give a little yank up with your front foot and the wheel will lock up. I tend to do more of a series of skips, seems to be a lot easier on the tire.
intresting. my and my brother where talking about building some bmx bikes. maybe ill have to look into fix geared messenger style bikes. trying to make some money.....
You just gotta ride one for a couple of weeks and you'll understand the appeal. Once you start to get smooth you'll really feel like you're a part of the machine, its pretty cool.
If you want to build one, just make sure you start out with a track frame. Don't waste your time with conversions.
