fixed gear bicycle
you ride around in 48x13 all day? you've got to be ****in jokin. that's almost 100 gear inches. there are barely any people that even run that on a velodrome, i mean other than super-hulk sprinters.
well, thats not really uncommon for strictly race bikes , but you better have monster legs and someone to push you to get started. No one runs that specific ratio though , The chainring is never smaller than a 51
didnt that shop chari in nyc have a sale on them for 90? I know there is a picture floating around of the rim that failed, but odds are , it was from a retard jumping down stairs with em .Ive seen more deep vs fail, and almost all rims are made in taiwan anyway, so im not worried.

i think it was more so him not properly installing his tire/pumping it up and when it burst it taco'd that reem.
seems most of the trick dudes dont mind using a front hed3 and slamming down on it . The T19 crew all use drops, look at their video..
Bens cycle is having their 15% off sale for 2 more hours, cant decide if i want anything hha

I assume your referring to the pink dura ace .. Its no nail in any coffin . Its one of the best high flange hubs out there, and the point of custom building anything is to have something thats yours that others cant have , so yeah I think we all enjoy rare parts to an extent.

spend like 250-300 and buy a low end complete fixed gear bike , youll be alot happier in the long run . Also , your chainline will always be off on a conversion, and theyre just headaches.
i've had my windsor hour since august of 2007. it's been through some effin hell. talkin' plenty of downhill bails, stairs, the works (this is my first fixed gear) and honestly, i havent changed anything aside from tires. the stock wheels/hubs suck, but they're very functional and will do unless you're serious about racing. i doubt you'd be looking to go for cheap if you were serious about racing though, so yeah, just thought i'd give some feedback.
+1 my first fixed was a fuji conversion. It was decent, but once I rode an actual track bike I don't think I could ever go back.
I live in Florida (no real hills). I also pedicab for a living. That means dragging a trailer around behind youfor 8-10 hours at a time that weighs 200lbs empty.
Monster legs? Check.
