Yup, they look great, kept the OEM socket/amber bulb. JDM socket has 2 wires and clear bulb .USDM has 3 wires so I didnt want to splice anything so I just used the USDM amber bulb/socket.

Yeah too freaking bad I accidentally caused a short circuit and its not working anymore. I bought just a replacement deck and it still doesnt turn on. So Ill try buying another wire harness, maybe thats what blew, if that doesnt work then idk what I'll do. I wish I had a working radio.

Yours is hella nice though and it has an audio in jack. I used an FM transmitter to play from my mp3 player haha. How much did you cash out for alpine?

If I cant get mine to work Ill get an OEM radio and use a tape deck to play from my MP3 player haha. Ghetto!

I'm sure you've already checked the radio fuse then. I got that Alpine deck for $150 at Best Buy. It was their low end model but anything Alpine is high end.

I called today to cancel my order and they got the parts in and will ship monday so I didnt cancel it, they were apologetic but still a little heads up would have been nice. I went with a T3/TO4E 50 compressor 63 exhaust. Im going to run about 18lbs of boost and see how well it rips



Does your clock keep the time? sounds like a fuse to me. have you checked the ones under the hood? on the back of the radio? or looked for an inline fuse the last owner installed? have you ran 12volts from the battery directly to the cd player to see if it powers up? I have done alot of stereos in my day and shorted out alot of stuff and never melted a wire harness

 

OMG BBQ! You know its funny you ask man, before I had my car registered, sometimes the battery would die from not being turned on for weeks. So I never bothered to adjust the clock. Even after I registered I didn't bother.

However tonight coming home from work I looked at it (and got bugged by the fact it goes dim after the headlights turn on, I know this is how is supposed to be, anyone know a bypass to make it always stay bright? strange ****.., anyways). So I went and adjusted it. I stopped at a store real quick for 5 mins and I come back and the clock is reset to 1:00! Im like wtf? So I set it again, come home, turn off and back on, reset again!

I checked all the fuses, but they look fine. Never actually replaced any. Im thinking the fuse messed up then, ill replace it and hopefully it works.

Earlier today I redid the whole harness, stripped the wires at the tips, laced em together and taped em. So now its nice and 100% to have contact. I also checked if the voltage was going through and I used continuity tester and it lit up and the ground was good too.

So I have voltage all the way across the harness and the ground is good too. I bought a faceplate so if its not the fuse then its gotta be the faceplate.

I checked the fuse in the radio itself, it was fine. Im using the replacement deck with another fuse so im sure that one works. Underhood has no fuses that could be for that? I didnt find anything there. Underdash fusebox has the 15A for the radio but it wasnt blown, maybe it was screwed up. Ill go replace it now.

 

Replaced the fuse with one from the condenser fan and it still doesnt hold time.

 

under your hood there is a 7.5 amp fuse labled backup try replacing that one even if it dosent look bad some times they are.

 

Oh **** haha that fuse was fried nasty! I'm going to hook up my harness and Ill try the radio.

The clock now holds time and its bright as ****! Awesome man, Im stoked!

Woot woot! It turns on! Just gotta hook up my sub back in there and fix the issue that caused me to fry it originally. Right speaker in the front doesnt work. But the radio does so woot!! Thanks a lot man, I appreciate the help.
