i'm having issues with the first page. it says i have 30 pictures & i'm only allowed to have 20 per post. so i'm thinking just having the names. what does everyone think?
have him edit his post to hold the other 10 members...
the clicking just started but the vibration has been getting wurse for the last couple weeks. when its cold its almost unbearable to drive over 40. i've only changed out axles never rebuilt/regreased the cv.
it vibrates because the joint has to much slop which is usually filled by the grease. reintroduce the grease to fill in the empty crevice and the vibration should go away.
clicking means really dry. if it just started you can still save it. boot+grease 20-50 bucks. axle 100 plus depending.

advance auto has the new boot listed for $17.
hondaautomotiveparts.com has it listed for $19.95 with the grease

i just gotta persuade my future father inlaw to let me use his garage. i had to promise to go hunting with him next year just for my gf hand in marriage. my 270 has been sitting in my closet for 8 years.
if time is an issue, replacing boots involves more labor and is a really messy job. swapping a complete axle assembly is cake as you know, also sometimes time is a more important factor... i know last time i just swapped to another axle i had laying around instead of replacing the boot... its to messy to mentally commit especially after work
but definatly opportunity to save a buck.

ive been mooching to check out the wagons ive always loved since before they were "accepted" hehe. sorry to hear about that, in that case yea it should only take you an extra half our of labor to replace the boot and grease for both cv joints on a single axle. you will need to cut the boot clamps which may require a special tool to reclamp. definatly if oem, some aftermarket use a snap style clamp. you than need ring gap pliers to pry open the clip which locks the joint and ball bearngs to the shaft. after you spread it with the axle shaft held in a vice, use a copper hammer and whack on the casing untill it pops off. reverse.
