can someone please help me? I'm doing a rebuild on a del sol I purchased about a month ago and I'm in the process of doing an auto to manual conversion and i'm almost done actually. Can someone take a picture of the clutch assembly for me? I need to know where the two plugs run to.

from someone who's driven both a lot and about to have owned both(I should have the complete turbo system installed by the end of the month for sure)...turbo D FTW...although, if you've got the $$$$$ turbo swap FTMFW! NA isn't that fun...unless it with at least a 2.0 motor IMO.

also consider the cost of replacement parts...crack/blow up the block on a turbo D, just go buy a complete swap for 600 and now you'd have a spare head and tranny or sell them...crack a sleeve or blow the block on a b16 swap you have to spend about 800 for just a shortblock...if you can find just a shortblock, with no parts left over to sell.(of course it would be a little cheaper for a b20 or LS block, but still much more than a D)

I got my JDM B16A longblock for $415 out the door from a shop. That's from a shop! lol. All in all, my swap will cost around $1,200 but that is because I am changing little stuff like the timing belt, water pump, head gasket, etc. I've also bought a lot of goodies like my Apexi JDM ITR 4-2-1 header, Skunk2 intake manifold, and am doing a lot of research on what needs to be done to have it done right.

I personally like the reliability of a strong NA motor over a boosted application. Then again, I'm not much of a drag fan, so I don't need a fuckton of boost to get me going. I don't remember where it was, but this quote sums it up to me perfectly: "Drag racing is for fast cars, but autocross is for fast drivers."

if paired with the right turbo, FI can be used greatly for autocross/road racing.

well, just typical pricing that I've seen here on HT. Damn Lane less than 1300 for a b16a swap with all the belts and **** changed?!?!?! I think I need some of your hookups. Also, be sure to get cams before bothering to bolt on that IM...every IM installed before cams will lose more than it'll gain(both my experience and other people's dyno graphs I've seen).

As for turbos being primarily for drag racing, with a smaller turbo (such as the TD04 I'll be using on my z6) and not too much boost it'll provide great MANAGEABLE power for going around twisties. and if it's built/tuned right a FI car can be extremely reliabe...after all, you can get a b16a and throw any amount of NA parts into it you want but, if it's built shotty and untuned or tuned poorly, that can blow just as easily as a porly built/tuned FI car. Either way, careful planning, an experienced builder, and good tuning is the key to success

not trying to argue, jsut my POV after being disappointed with a 160whp 110ftlbs b16a in an eg cx hatch, and later driving a friends car(also a cx EG hatch) with a greddy turbo setup @ only 10 psi.

damn,1200? thats gotta be a type-o. how all did you pull that **** off.
its definetly a touch choice, boost definetly puts you back in the seat like woah.
But I do love the general feel and sound of an all motor car,but if you like having ur back planted to your seat, unless you have a 2.0l or a k-series,you're gona have a hard time achieving that experience

yeah man no doubt.

autoxing happens once a month,I like to scare myself shitless to and from work day in and day out haha!

I remember when I had my gsr turbo coupe..i pulled out of a parking lot to a main street, and I speed up quickly just to kinda "merge/keep up with traffic" and when I shifted into 2nd gear at just 4500,I just lost traction for like 10 seconds
right then i thought to myself, damn I kinda like boost

Similar deal for me....my friends car seemed way faster than mine at the streets of willow and his only had 20-30 more whp and about 40-55more ft/lbs more than my NA b16a....don't remeber the laps as this was almost a year ago now, but his was definately faster

By clutch assembly you mean the slave cylinder and the master cylinder? If its for a D series I can run out and snap a couple pics on my break.

Either way youll get pics in about an hour

:edit: here ya go the master and slave cyl. I hope im in the ball park with what you need. again its a dseries.
