You're really not that far off, and I was actually thinking about this the other day when planning my wire tuck...

I am personally a HUGE fan of cars that look fully functional, that really are stripped down race cars... There are some things that even by a bare minimum standard you need to have. One could argue that on a flat race track, suspension is uneccessary, since most efforts are spent in stiffening a purpose built car to eliminate suspension travel in that circumstance. Obviously a WRC car would need lots of suspension travel, so something more elaborate is a requirement.

The K.I.S.S. idealogy is most often times the best way to begin any project... There is a line however where necessity crosses practicality. That being said, you could eliminate the ignition system all together and just use a jumper to start the car, but how practical is that in a street driven application? Remove the heat from your car to eliminate the wires and plumbing, but I personally live in WI and without a reliable daily driver I may need that heat one day...

Think of how a modern vehicle has evolved as new ideas and technologies were developed. Hydraulic steering and braking systems, distributors, disc brakes, double wishbone suspension, rubber and urethane bushings everywhere to eliminate vibration, etc... All of these things used to be options at one point, that now come standard...

Am I making sense here?

Only reason I keep it is because I happen to really like blue, and it's JDM bling y0! Though if you were to steal it, I have family in your area so I'd fly out, give your dog a steak to get it to stfu and steal it back

Oh by the way, I have sat in a IRL car cockpit (which is somewhat similar to F1 from what I could tell based on controls and how cramped it was) and it was just awesome. All the different adjustments available on the fly are just rediculous, and it really is a marvel of function-driven technology. Everything is there for a reason, and it is in perfect position for the driver to reach.

Ahhhh, I love parts IN the car. My old corolla had a full front and rear bumper in the hatch from my parts car. Thing was like a drivable shed, haha.

Yeah man, i had to keep that stuff in there since it wasn't in a garage at the time. Didn't want someone walking off with my ****!

So which would look better, an OEM Del Sol VTEC/GSR strut bar stripped and polished, or powdercoated blue like my Cusco roll bar?

DEFINITELY keep me updated. If its a good deal I will most likely take you up on that. It'd be the final thing to get done before winter hits. Weather says it might snow a little Thurdsday

I know I'm 2 pages late but no, thats not Greece, those roads are too wide and the turns arn't twisty enough.

Sasha : I actually use the power mirrors often so I don't hit the curbs while parking - roads are a tight fit here in Europe and especially Greece

Danny : Loved the "Days of Thunder" comment... I pissed myself laughing at 5:30am in the morning!

As for racecars it can go either way, theres no need to fight over it. I've met officials from both Lotus and Ferrari during my time at the magazine, Lotus keeps Colin Chapmans ideology of "performance through lightweight". They'll tell you that not having electric windows means "less can go wrong".

Then you have Ferrari, with the F1 inspired flappy paddle gear box, which not only shifts gears faster than any human can, but it gives torque to the engine for those few milliseconds the clutch is activated. BMW's SMG II & III are just perfection, and even VW/AUDI DSG double clutch is the fastest shifter you can get in a reasonbly priced car.

When it comes to real life cars, it's all about what you prefere. Even in racing, F1 has one ideology, WRC another, LeMans another and so on and so on.

When it comes to del Sols - it's just one giant headache trying to figure out how make that bitch handle properly without spending a pretty dime.
