if you take out the $$ I got and the value of the parts I kept...mine was probally in the 3800 range and was in decent shape overall(needed very minor body work and new paint) and fairly low mileage @ 106k...not bad for a clean title '93 si IMO.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by WrongWD &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">its power rating stock? 500hp and torque to match stock is more than enough for me.</TD></TR></TABLE>

There are 2 versions, a 6.0 @ 400hp and a 7.0 @ 500

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by WrongWD &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">oh yeah, and some fuel consumption numbers:

BMW M5: 12 MPG / 18 MPG
Audi R8 (Road Car): 16 MPG / 20 MPG
C6 Corvette: 18 MPG / 28 MPG
</TD></TR></TABLE>

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by The Allmighty Internet &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> The C6 retains its relatively good fuel economy, in part by upshifting to higher gears as soon as possible and in part due to its relatively low drag coefficient and low weight. Equipped with an automatic transmission, the C6 achieves 18/27 mpg (city/highway), and the manual transmission version is slightly better at 18/28. However, some prospective Corvette buyers are surprised to find that the C6's manual transmission is fitted with Computer Aided Gear Selection (CAGS), which has been included in all manual transmission Corvettes since 1989. CAGS requires the driver to shift from 1st directly to 4th when operating at lower RPMs by using a solenoid to block out 2nd gear. While this boosts the EPA's derived fuel economy, thus allowing the buyer to avoid paying the "gas guzzler" tax, it is an open secret that more than a few C6 owners with manual transmissions simply have a $20 aftermarket part (CAGS eliminator) fitted to their vehicle to re-enable a normal 1-2-3-4-5-6 sequence at any engine speed.</TD></TR></TABLE>

It's fuel economy as you can see is a sham. It has nothing to do with how clean the engine burns fuel.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by WrongWD &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">you say that the corvette can't do anything on international racing levels and when i present you with the gt class standings, you say oh, well, anything but the gt class</TD></TR></TABLE>

GT class ain't exactelly the cream of the crop. In fact on the greater scale of racing, it's barely noticed. Oh I forgot, Chevy races in Nascar as well... woopie!

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by WrongWD &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">and you say that its fuel consumption is inferior, so i'll just wait to hear what you have to say about this. I personally dont understand how a smaller displacement motor that gets worse gas mileage is considered more refined in its fuel consumption?</TD></TR></TABLE>

Very long gears or light weight or whatever trick they use to convince people that their car is economical has absolutely nothing to do with how well it burns fuel. TuV awarded this to a V8 Mercedes Benz instead of the Toyota Prius.

My arguement is that the Chevy Corvette is a piece of junk because it fails to provide any new sort of technology or evolution for the automobile instead they rely on an age old solution throw the public some numbers and call it a day.

So it does well on a track - so what. It's an aweful car that provides nothing but a 50 year old dream alive for those who couldn't afford it then and want one for their mid life crisis.

This will be my last post on the subject. To all those who believe this is a hostile arguement, it isn't. Civilization was built on discussion.

Now back to del Sols.

herein lies the basis for our argument... we own our cars for verrrrry different reasons

i don't care what my car looks like/ smells like / tastes like as long as it'll beat the living pants off of anything else

i still don't agree that its an awful car though, its just clearly not what you look for in a car.

asking a corvette to be a refined technological wonder is like looking for good acting in a porno. it'll be the best ******* you've ever seen, but it won't win an oscar

elises are fun.... but they are waaay to anemic in stock form to hold a candle to a vette on the big socal tracks

elise makes a better road car... you don't need power on mountain roads

edit: oh yeah, and that toyota motor is the worst sounding tin can i've ever heard!!!

You know very well that there are many cars that can track faster than a Vette.
