Get rid of all the extra stuff you have in there like A/C and PS to fit a bigger radiator

you radiator fan looked a little small to me...

maybe you need a new water pump???

and the last thing i think you should do is actually have your intake in a cold intake position i dont think the box you built is doing much to help the intake air temp

i told you most of this on the drive...'

looks awsome! too bad its giving you problems

thats why i love my B16B / S4C LSD w/ I/H/E for my DD
thanks for posting up the pics jon

unfortunately, i don't want to spend the money on the oil cooler; i was planning on getting a meth kit, but at this point it would just be a band-aid. the motor shouldn't be running this hot in the first place, even without meth.

intercooler is fine for me; my IAT's are great. it's just the ECT's that are too high. Intercooler is rated for over 400hp, which i'm a good bit away from.

I unfortunately don't want to get rid of P/S or A/C, otherwise I would have already.

the radiator fan is indeed too small, but again, replacing it would just be a band-aid. it shouldn't be running hot enough to run the fan all the time on the freeway, but it is

water pump was inspected and I determined it is in OK shape. it has ~10k miles on it

as far as the airbox; I tried to build it to go down into the lower part, but unfortunately my blow off valve is down there, and there isn't room to put a filter again though, my IAT's are fine, and shockingly my underhood temps are GREAT! my engine bay is unbeliveably cool; i alsmot think they're cooler than when I was all motor. now I have the turbo blanket and my downpipe is wrapped, and it is nice and cool under the hood.

I appreciate the words of help and encouragement; but unfortunately I just don't think that boost is for me

got any motors you wanna get rid of?

Are you using a mix of antifreeze and water? Just water or water + water wetter.

Flush the cooling system completly and see if things improve.

I know this wasn't directed to me, but I've used both and the straight water and wetter was nice but hated how it got rusty

i'm using honda genuine coolant (blue that turns green when needs changing) thats more diluted than recommended though (added water cause i used up the whole jug) and also with a splash of wetter
works good and no rust...

at the track they can get picky about having too much antifreeze in your coolant and make you drain it or require straight water, but of course rust
trick is to buy that orange coolant they sell at autozone so it looks rust colored lol

wrongwd- i feel your pain. I once had a turbo on my old sol. It was either the turbo seals and/or the oil lines needed a restictor. Anyways I was always leaking oil everywhere. Drove it for less than 2 months and I said to hell with it so I sold the setup. Then I got an h22 swap which ive always wanted. hassle free!

btw- a guy 3 hours away from me is selling an lsd h22 swap complete for 1500 it has 440cc injectors and its tuned on a hondata s100... if there was no such thing as an h2b i would jump on it. im trying to get the long block for cheap. just waiting on his reply

cooling system has been flushed twice. now running mixture of about 80% water, a bottle of water wetter, and the rest is the orange prestone coolant.

thanks for the words of encouragement all; but i just dont think the boost thing was meant for me

I know you're already set on ditching boost, but maybe the tune is a bit lean and causing it run hotter? I really don't know though. Just a suggestion.

haha thanks everyone. yeah, i really have done everything. i'm going to run it without the bumper, and if temps dont change then it's game over for the boost.

and just so everyone knows, i never wanted boost, i never liked boost, i never planned on going boost. but noel cut me a deal i couldn't say no to, so i had to scoop it up. i don't regret trying it, now i can say with confidence that it's not for me. it was fun having over 300whp, but i'm done with it. no matter what i do, there will always be someone faster in the straights.

you have a wideband right? what are your a/f's at cruising speeds (or when it starts creeping up?)

i think that might be my problem, is its maybe leaning out a little when im cruising, causing the egt's to raise in turn raising temps? i know its leaned out some since my tune, seeing that i got tuned on a 2.25" exhaust, then later switched over the 3" which freed up quite a bit of power, which i assume would lean it out some

Oh **** that's right it was Noel's old setup! I suppose if you got a deal then you can't really go wrong.

Anyone else need a dSoc registration code while I'm here and paying attention? You can still use "honda-tech" if you need to register.

pwn

its when going up hills that it overheats badly; so its usually around 12.9:1-13.4:1. cruising on the highway when its 204-206 degrees, its usually at 14.1:1 or so.

going up the hill will put the car under a lager load, in return building boost, so it could be that it leans out...?

you guys must be doing it wrong. I have a stock single core + stock fan in my sol and even on 100+ days it doesnt get hot.

this is an ls motor + water cooled gt2871r

single core is there because I busted an endtank on the original dual core I had, and I'm too lazy to replace it
