Using Simulators as Training Tools

It's not always just fun and games when you can use a simulator to improve your driving. Check out 5 ways inside.

 

 

Lol Idk if having a Forza Horizon 4 as your main picture would be ideal for you to use as that is purely an arcade game. Hell, even Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo are still somewhat arcade-ish or what the community calls them, Sim-Cades.

As an avid Sim-Racer for the past 9 years now, I would say start off with a cheap wheel from Craigslist, OfferUp or such just to get your feet wet or to even simply decide whether you want to get into the hobby. Wheels such as the Logitech G25/G27 can be purchased very cheap nowadays for the PC although, I prefer my Thrustmaster T300rs.

 

I've used forza to learn tracks before racing on them in real life. Works pretty well imo.

 

For learning tracks hell yea.

 

@Tim2179 is a Forza master.

It's fun and entertaining more than anything. Forza 7 is quite good, not quite iRacing good, but still good for an Xbox game. Using a controller (for me) means it'll never be a "simulator," but I've got the in-game Prelude pretty damn close to our real-life ChumpCar Prelude. Breaking points, shift points (once I corrected the gear ratios), are spot on. Good for learning track layouts.

One thing it really does help me with is conditioning me to pick my eyes up and look down track. With a Xbox you're limited on your sensory feedback, and I will instantly go faster when I start looking farther down track.

 

 

 

Adjust your in car FOV if possible.

Also sit closer to the TV. It helps.

Lastly, stop being a ***** and go hardcore simcade with a Thrustmaster and hook up multiple displays.
