Default Honda-Tech...

So Im About to make a decision of a lifetime... I have a 93 civic ex. I have had problems with it since i last replaced the engine last winter. So my hopes of fixing it have dwindled. I am debating whether taking out the old d-series and swapping in a k-series type r tho. I know its expensive but many isnt an issue. All im looking for is a 10 second all motor car and I think with the civic body being so light the k20 would do the job maybe supercharge like I wanted also. How much am I looking to spend? Is this an easy swap I bet its been done before anyone in here?Well anything will be helpful i just need a ball park estimate and where in chicago can i get this done?

If you want a 10 sec all motor civic, I hope you have a nice stack of benjamins because that isnt cheap.. And you would also have to have more than a K20 to do it..

The swap is easy if you have the knowledge to do it and all the parts/equipment necessary to handle the task..

If you have never done it before and dont feel like you are up to the task, then Id highly suggest taking it to a professional shop..

Lots of people have done that swap. Turbo/supercharged. Its been done. It isn't a cheap swap by any means. Try using the search button up top. U can find all you want to know.

You want an all motor 10 second civic, but your talking about supercharging the k20?
I think you may need to search to see how difficult of a goal your setting. How much is it going to cost you? ALOT

Damn, how much money do you have to blow. If that was the case, then you'd have to swap out pistons, and all the **** that makes a beast of an all motor car a beast. Then you'd have to go with low comp. pistons and everything else.

And a ten second all motor car on the street will probably never pass inspection.

And if you have 16-20 thousand dollars to spend for this hobby, I wouldn't put it into a 1994 civic ex. You might as well, get an RSX (already has a K) then build and boost it if you have that much money.

Consider other alternatives as well. Outside of Honda. If you have that much money to spend on this type of project.

A drag rail with a VW power plant.

Older "muscle car" with the appropriate small/big block.

Motorcycle.

I already have an RSX but it's an auto and i only bought it cuz the civic was giving me a headache. I was thinking maybe swapping a type r in there but i wouldnt know where to start or get it done plus i heard that it might not fit in the engine bay. So my civic ex is the only bet

dude - take your RSX and swap the RSX Type-R motor into that..the motor should drop right in. i know you said money isn't an issue, but you will save a ton since all you really need to do is drop the motor in. then you have a ton more money to make the car faster than god.

swapping it into a civic is a headache..and if you bought the RSX cause the Civic was giving you a headache (for god knows what reason), swapping a k series into it does not equal aspirin.

EDIT: if you swap the RSX, swap the trans while you're at it cause you'll have to do it to the Civic as well

If you want a good shop in Chicago where you can buy the engine and have it installed within a day or 2, eric japan engines. I dont have there card anymore but you can look them up. He gives warranties too. Also you can usually hagle the price.

I wish I had a dollar for every stupid ******* topic where some "rich" kid comes in asking stupid questions and saying he has an unlimited budget.

If you're so ******* rich why did you buy an auto RSX for a daily driver?

By the way deciding on what swap you're not actually going to do in your car isn't a ******* "lifetime" decision - marrying someone, deciding whether or not to have kids, buying a house, etc. etc. - these are lifetime decisions.

Are you 17? I have a feeling you might be...

wow, i completely agree with you B18C5-EH2 - dropping 15-20 grand on a civic would be the dumbest decision as far as "decisions of a lifetime" go. you can take that and put a down payment on a house for christ sake, or save it for whatever future you planned for yourself instead of dumping it into a 15 year old civic.

Okay you got me - I'm a hater.

I'm jealous of your auto RSX, and I'm jealous of your "$20,000 money ain't no problem" budget too. You got me pegged.

Actually I replied because I'm tired of seeing these exact same topics pop up once or twice a week, only to have others wasting their time/effort by endulging every e-fantasy build you kids type up.

I also wish I had a dollar for every guy like you who posted this exact same topic, yet never did the swap and dissappeared from H-T.

I don't know too many forums that enjoy a bunch of people wasting everyone's time by posting bullshit like "I want 10 second all motor, but I will supercharge it prolly yo" and "money ain't no thang y0!"

I mean, if i'm in the minority here and the rest of you guys enjoy seeing these types of topics with fantasy e-builds that will never happen then I'll stop typing up replies like this, and I'll kindly take my services elsewhere so that the true tech topics get overrun with e-racing bullshit.
