Default zex troubleshooting

I just installed my 65hp shot zex kit on my 91 prelude. I got the kit used, and it had been sitting for aproximatly 6 months. I went to try it for the first time. It ran for about 1 second then i had a HUGE backfire.

i'm trying to figure out what the cause of this is.

did i set my timing incorrectly?

is the NO2 stale?

I'm pretty sure i installed the nozzle correctly... but i guess there's a chance it could have gotten turned when i screwed the hose onto it. It is installed about 6-8 inches from the throttle body. is this to close?

could it have just been an air pocket in the line?

I'd really like to find out the cause before i just go and try it agian.... i don't want to damage anything(obviously)

thanks for the help.

Wade

I had the same happen on my b16a. I installed the zex plugs which are some real pieces. Two of my 4 pugs were fried after my first bottle. well my guess is that you fried a plug and mabe lost a piston because of it. If you are running the zex plugs I would suggest changing to iridium or at least some platinium 4 prong.

Scary huh? Does it still drive the same? (off the bottle, I mean) If so, it could be that you were running super rich and it combusted in the exhaust piping. Definitely do a compression check to see if you blew something. If all turns out okay, then it's nothing major (I hope?)
