Default ZC DOCH motor

if i invest in a DOCH ZC motor how much is it going to cost me to put this motor in a 93 CX hatchback, also would i have to replace any internals to boost under 10lbs?

if you get a 2ng gen dohc ZC which is obd1 it bolts right in (obd0 you need to do some wiring). You can buy the motor from like nippon-motors.com for $600 i think. Online for cheaper. And at 10psi you will be fine leaving it stock.

incorrect. The 2ng gen obd1 dohc ZC came with a hydro tranny. You can use any d-series clutch. How do i know? I have a ZC hydro tranny in my garage!

I did a ZC swap into a 91 hatch. The motor ran strong and suprised me. It is a cable clutch, one of the reasons they are popular is because ppl use the civic tranny's, which is a cost savings. If you are going to do the swap...make sure the car has multiport fuel injection, not the throttle body injection setup. Wiring the injectors and such is a pain.

hey buddy just for future reference, it DOHC, not DOCH

also if you plan to go ZC, i would suggest the GReddy SOHC turbo kit. it was made for that motor

The dohc ZC bottom end is pretty much identical to the d16a6 or d16z6. Just has different pistons..and is a little big higher compression at 9.6:1.

As far as power...the head flows similar to the z6/y8 head. On the flow bench, the exhaust side flows more and the intake less. So power output is gonna be similar.

6psi is gonna be around 160-170whp. 10psi is around 200whp.

The d16 bottom end is pretty strong. There is examples of people running 16psi on a stock block and it holding. Ive personally boosted 15psi on a stock block and she held together...although i dont recommend it for everyday use.

With a good motor 10psi daily shouldnt be a problem with the right fuel management.
