Default Your thoughts on H22 Boosted......

Getting ready to put a H22 into my EG hatch shell and I am looking to boost it as quick as possible. I don't know to much about boosting so it would be great to get some input from some people that have boosted or know a lot about boosting. I know I will have to change internals after so much boost, but what parts do you reccomend and what other parts should I change to help performance? Or if you could point me to a website that could help me out that would be great.

Thanks

That sounds nice, but I am looking for mine to last a little longer than three years. Do you have any suggestions on parts to use?

ok pretty boy,

h22 have frm sleeves and you can only run 2 types of forge pistons : mahles and juns
you could sleeve the block an run cp, wiseco, je pistons and throw a set of eagle rods and redo the bottom end. On top of that, you need a turbo kit that will last you long. ebay is out of the answer and I consider you look at peakboost, AFI, spoolin but you will also need a fuel pump, injectors, engine management plus tuning. If you want to be on the safe side, upgrade the brakes and suspension to support your mods. A new clutch to hold all that power

Do you get my point?

I hope you have a nice budget

I made 340 whp on a stock h22 with water/meth and I was running 280 whp with no injection kit till I sold the car

do alot of research and have some money saved for a motor, yes you can boost a stock h22 but you need a very good tune it is really all in the tune. but the frm sleeves suck and the h22/h23 ring glands suck the mahle pistons are very good i used them till i sleeved my block and even after i bought the sleeved version from mahle because i was very satisfied but if you plan on having a dependable boosted h22 save some money build it then boost just my opionen after alot of money ive spent on mine and good luck

the frm sleeves are one of the strongest but the real problem is the ringland on the pistons. I would recommed to do a leakdown test and compression if you want to stay stock to see if your motor will handle it. If everything workouts fine, you can start looking at turbo kit but please make sure you pay for a reputable tuner

I don't want to stay stock. I know you are able to stay stock as long as you run low psi, but I want to run a little higher psi and I want to be safe. Thanks for the info.

Isn't there another way to protect your motor without sleeving it? I forget what its called.

maybe your talking about a blockguard but the h22 are closedeck. Ive heard about dartons liners but you might has well just sleeve it.

For the h22 its liners or sleeve, mahles and jun pistons with stock sleeves

That is what it was called. Only problem is that I know of zero shops in Ohio that will sleeve.

@bwhite12

Where do you come from?

You seem to be newbie, so why don´t you stay on stock internals and so on. For the first try on F/I it is better to blow a stock engine than a build or sleeved engine.
That an engine is buildt or sleeved does not mean it is impossible to destroy/demage it ...

Just my opinion.

I'll give you my personal opinion.

Leave your engine stock for now. You should get theses:

-fuel pump
-injectors
-engine management
-exhaust (3 inches)
-clutch and flywheel or resurface yours
-a good turbo kit has I mentionned in the previous post
-good rad with spal fan/shroud

now heres the advice...put on the kit and tune it and run it till it break (if it does) and then buid the bottom end. If you do this all at once...you can easily spend over 8k. Now be wise and spend 5k and run for the summer and next year build it if your have a problem. If you decide to follow my advice, I would consider buying a water/meth injection kit.

So you don't think that I should at least block guard and engine management would include rods and pistons and any other internals.
