Default Yet another turbo install problem :(

Ok, well i put on my FMIC today and got my oil pan off and welded and put back on, but When I tried to install the ACTUAL turbo, I ran into a huge problem.... Well I have the MAXREV manifold with a T3/T4 OE turob. A big one.... ANyway, It didnt fit. I took out the fan on the driver side, but I still could not get it to fit. It looks like I need to take out the passenger side fan ANyone have any input on this situationg? I dunno if I am just doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated as I need to drive it to school on monday. THank you.

you may have to buy a pusher fan and mount it on the opposite side of the radiator

First make sure you have clocked the turbo correctly, then did you cut the webbing of the block at all to allow room for the compressor? If you have done that, then you will have to buy a different fan.

Yes the fan is to cool the engine.

if you have an air compressor then it is so easy. Just buy/rent an air saw and use a metal blade ot it. If you dont then i would say cut it at a 90 degree angle by hand if you can get in there with it. If not try a dremel with alot of cutting/grinding wheels. Also if you remover your radiator first it will help both with cutting and with installing turbo. And even with stock fans youll need to trim the shroud and part of the fan blades to mak it fit. good luck!!

If you need to trim your Block like in the pics below, just use any grinder wheel. Also the pic on the bottom is a universal pusher/puller fan, if i was you, id get one. BTW Art, i stole these pics from you

LOL
Man i was in your same spot last week. U must shave part of the block
Check this out

1st stage
\
2nd stage....oh so ugly

WOO HOO
notice the differnece

Well as for the Fan. I didnt take off my Driver side fan but i will since i took out my AC. I ended up taking off my Passenger side Fan which helps cool the Block and other stuff when your engine gets hot. I been asking around and got some good answers so here u go. U can get what u call a SLIM FAN that u can bolt up to your Stock Radiator and replace your olf fan. Its much smalller but still does the trick.

Or u can just hack the hell outta your Fan and Fan cover like i did. But i hacked so much looked like ****, so i suck **** it and took that bitch off.

if you have a powerful enough drill, you can drill holes into the block and form kind of a line and knock out that piece with a mallet or something.

i dont think u should start putting the turbo on unless u know for sure what u are doin, when, and how. ur gonna run into problems i guarantee it. do some research, and get ALL necessary parts before u start. dont expect to be able to do it in one day unless u have all things squared away.

clock the turbo and then see how much ur gonna have to trim away, i think the maxrev mani doesnt have this problem. anywya ill find out in a week or so.

Or you can get an inlinepro manifold and not cut anything. With a 5-bolt T31 housing.

Looks good but clean it up more. Make it so its flat all the way acorss almost STOCK LOOKING. see how mine came our. U can barely tell. Dont start shaving your Engine Code thou. U went to far if u did that, I did mine on accidnet LOL kinda dark under the car LOL. Did u cut inot your Fan Shroud and fan yet. Im sure u will have to cut your fan blades somewhat to get good clearance.

Looks goood though

Aslo, try taking off or lossening your Big Line u got there. It will help the Install alot, making it easier to fit your Mani + turbo in all at once. Be sure to clock your Turbo before u try to install it. I made that mistake LOL. i was like hmmmmmm why is it upside down now . ahahahahahaahah

i have to cut the fan now, I dropped in turbo but i think i might have ended up puncturing my radiator Oh well, needed a new one anyway...... Another problem I had was that the downpipe i got was too long. It went WAY past the cat... Any suggestions. I live in columbia, so emissions isnt a big problem so i was thinking about going with no cat.... I think the reason why the down pipe was so long was taht it was made for a 98+ not my 95... What you think i should do.... thank you.
