Default Would you reuse these?

I bought these "excellent condition" pistons from <FONT SIZE="3">W O T</FONT> (aka Pinks)

Very curious. SRP .020 D16 used pistons, <U>to quote seller "ran them for 5000-6000miles @ 11psi ... Things are in amazing condition, perfect for a budget build"</U>. BTW, the skirts (on thrust sides) are so bad that they would barely make it as .010 pistons (as measured by a machinist/engine builder with 25+ years experience). That doesn't include the obvious contact the head made with that particular piston, nor the dissimilar metal spots found above the 1st ring in almost every piston.

Mainly waiting on the 1-week ultiamatum I set for the seller.

nah; i wouldn't; those are pretty beat up.

I put some used SRP slugs in my D16; supposedly had 2k on them and i've put 8k on them still going strong. i'm about to tear the motor down and re-ring it though since i reused the used rings. I figure why not maybe it'll bump my compression up some.

I got these because they were supposed to be better fitment than vitaras (since my block needs .020 overboring to be usable) - at least better proportionally to the increased expense over vitaras.

BTW, <U>seller agreed to refund</U> after 'a check cleared', now he's been igrnoring PM's for a week. I have his address, name, milage to his location, phone #, etc - along with enough vacation time saved up to drive there, along with the fact I make less in 1 week than I paid for these, and I've been jerked around on HT 4 times in the last month.

Those pistons look like crap. My a6 pistons with 200k on them didn't look that bad.

If the price was right, I was near-broke, previously willing to go unprotected, and it was quoted as being "excellent" by a "30+ vouch user"...maybe. In this case, I didn't really mind blowing a cheap block, and the pictures of the top were perfect, with pictures of the sides just hazzy enough to obscure true condition...so I sent money.

My guess (and friend's guess) is they had severe oiling issues.

NEGATIVE , They look like they where used for that long and where ran on a untuned motor , hence all the scuffs on the side skirts , and looks to be some detenation on the top of the ring lands also , they would make some nice ashtrays , haha

Go to his house and demand the money back. If he lives anywhere near indianapolis - i'll go with you.

Or i can just have him taken out...........your pick.

thats the dumbest comparision ever... don't compare apples to space ships buddy
unless a used slug has been abused or worn out of spec you should have no problem reusing it.

I agree with most of the above, those pistons look like they were very close to melting. Very bad.

I just now enlarged the picture to take a good look at them............here's my conclusion:

Whoever sold you those pistons should be shot.

Whats his name? Post him in the scammers section - but for now, give us his h-t name. That way we'll know not to deal with him - even if he has 'vouches'.

He's posted a few hours after my last PM, as well as ignored me when I posted in one of his threads he was active in.

Name is <FONT SIZE="3">W O T</FONT>
here's the thread I purchased from: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1410792

I also have his full name, phone, the whole works. That's the thread I bought from, quoted him in it just in case he ever changed it...its been that long since I've tried getting the cash back. If this goes further down hill, I'll post all the PM's exchanged, his name, number, a map to his pad, the directions I'll need to drive there (a bit more than I drove to buy my '90 shell). This isn't a good time in my life to be fuking with me. Especially if you're a 19 yr old punk.

There's a part of me that wishes you did

I paid $210 shipped. All I'm asking for is $210 back, and I'll return the pistons. Now that I think about it, he said 1 set of rings got damaged/lost when shipped to him, then he said this in a PM: "They were in a .020 bored block, because I bought the block aswell and put in new Wiseco's". How often do you buy a used block w/pistons with the parts disassembled?

Kinda sad how my most active thread is of this nature.

Plenty of times actually. Those pictures are shady as crap. Hate to say this, but you brought it on your self. Should have requested some better pictures. I did the same thing with a head I bought. Was I pissed, sure. Did I demand a refund, no because it was my fault for rushing the transaction without better pictures.
