its not the best design because you are forcing air to make a big 90* turn if the end tanks were smooth and had dividers on the inside then it would be better the best design that i like is the inlet feeding to the top of the inlet with a divider inside for even flow, and the outlet exiting from the bottom. kinda like what you see on some evos an skylines. think of it as hot air rising and cold air falling into the bottom outlet

Re: (vaporboy12)
maybe i could have a shop put in some sheet metal bends to curve the flow of air? would a little less piping compensate for the decrease in flow? it would take a little more for a regular style intercooler

You do realize that the air is at a higher pressure AND flowing, right?

Dude just duct tape the cardboard up and you'll be good to go.

Re: (tony413)
the full race intercoolers are backdoor on one side, and they have similar looking endtanks. i know there stuff is top notch, so is the intercooler set up differently on the inside?

more than likely yes the reason the full race intercooler is the way it is....is because they are designed for the BOV to be placed on the backdoor side of the endtank go take a look at there cars

I thought there were mixed reviews on the first two designs you posted?
My fmic is like the third one and positioned upside down like Mr HYDE posted. My charge pipes suck tho and i haven't messed with them enough to keep my fogs.
That ic is cool tho, how much power are you looking to get out of it? I'd imagine it'd be fine for a stock block engine...you can't push it toooo far lol
but on a side note, there are now ebay top mount manifolds, backdoor ic's, 60mm wgs, 50mm bovs, and lsd's....I wonder when obx or ssac will release pistons and rods...or worse, ems
