Default Would this block be reliable for FI?? Used LS block.

I have come accross yet another LS block... *yawn* and am considering keeping it as a pet. This is the problem:
When I look at the cylinders, there is a small amount of material (I guess you could say small chunks) missing from the outer-most edges of the cylinder walls. The chunks are only missing from the top outer edge of the rim. (Picture where a block guard would sit) I have heard this could be caused by some type of corrosion and would not affect the reliability/strength of the block.

Sorry, but I don't have a cam/pics. Does this sound familiar to anyone ? Is it safe to boost this (with a blockguard ?)

Well, these sleeves didn't look anything close to the pics you posted. None of the 'chunks' even made it half way thru the sleeve and only go about 1/4 inch down or less.

Anything on that ?

Some of the damage we caused when we learned the block was toast.
