Winter Project Part 2, It's Alive..Sorta.
Well if you don't remember me or the set-up here is Part one.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=646620
Most of my set-up is in the link above, though some things have changed
mostly the bottom end. I ended up getting a 84.5mm bored golden eagle
sleeved and assembled block from my tuner. Tonight I finally got it in and
running sorta. I did not install the turbo kit yet as I'm breaking in the bottom
end in NA style. Wanna try to weed out as many problems as possible. Biggest
thing is the car doesn't wanna idle high at all. Now it was 34 degrees here in
PA tonight so it should have cold started and jumped to 1500 rpm's but it didn't.
At first I had to keep the foot on the gas to keep it running but eventually it
started to idle by itself at around 250rpm's, yes 250rpm's not a typo. Anyone
have a reason this is? I mean I am still running stock P72 computer, stock
fpr, stock injectors, but it's running 9:1 compression and JG edlebrock intake
manifold. We did have to lengthing the wire's to the IAC valve because of the
manifold could that be the problem? Is there things I should look at in particular,
the idle needs to come up. Any help would greatly appreciated, but I'm tired
and going to bed. Tomorrow is a new day. I have to say over all I'm happy,
the motor, quiafe lsd, coilovers, new axles and new brakes were all installed by
my friends and I. Nothing was leaking, no check engine lights no funny sounds.
If I get the idle figured out it will be time to get those 1000 miles on and get
that turbo kit on,

What is your base fpr? What is your base timing? What kind of plugs are you running? How old is the gas in your motor? Are you running msd or any other ignition system?

Re: Winter Project Part 2, It's Alive..Sorta. (Evil DOHC)
Evil first thanks for responding, my Fuel pressure regulator is stock so I would
assume the fuel pressure to be stock though I don't have a gauge to verify.
I didn't have a timing light handy but we will be checking that tonight. The gas
in the motor is around 3 months old, but do you think that would make it idle
funny? Plugs and ignition is totally stock, as of now. I wanted to get the car
running with as many stock parts as possible to break it in the start adding
stuff as I went along to filter out a million thing when bolting on the turbo. I think
it may have to do something with the IAC or timing. Do you or anyone else have
any more insight to the problem?

Drain the old gas, set the timing properly. The IAC plays a big roll in idle changes. While the car is running try unplugging it and seeing what happens.

Thanks, Evil I will try that later tonight. Hopefully I can post tonight
that it's ready for break in.

I would deffinatly check to make sure you have continuity through your connections on the extended iacv wires and that it is recieving voltage. That and to make sure your timing is set right.

Yeah, base timing confirmed with a good timing light, make sure timing belt was installed right so cam and motor timing are correct (that was my problem once), then check IACV.
