Default Will this turbo work for me?

Came across this turbo for free and was wondering if I could make it work on my B18B. Problem is I dont know much about it - and I do not have a lot of cash so i was looking to put this on my car with no intercooler, buy a tubing kit, wastegate, and BOV and fab up myself. I am just looking to get my foot in the door with about 5-7 psi - thoughts? For a manifold, I figured a cheap cast, and then fab up an adapter plate to fit this turbo.

I think if your trying to run boost on the cheap then just forget it.

It will only end in tears.

I believe it is from an old, old, old Couvair. But honeslty, I believe I can fab up this turbo for 1000 - 1500 bucks, and then maybe a tune, no? I would rather use my time and skills than spend 5K for kit setup. I am not arguing here, I am just looking for honest opinion from someone who hasn't bought a kit, but rather pieced a kit together...

Ebay kits can be had for like $600. youd be better off with that and a fuel system/tune for the other $500

from the looks of it, it looks like it could be a ray jay turbo.

the little i know on there is they appear to always be very compact in design, and were bolt on turbo kits for a bunch of things like tractors and what not.

trust me you'll spend less money in the long run buying a new turbo and not having to adapt it, rebuild it, and maybe getting stranded using it
