Default Wideband ?'s

I am getting and fjo wideband. I had techedge in my last car that was stolen and I drove around with on all the time to monitor my air fuel. I talked to some people and they said it is not good to use it on a daily basis b/c the O2 sensors will not last long. Is this true?

Also is there any benfit of wiring it into my AEM EMS? I know I can turn on 02 feedback but will I get any benfits of having it wired into the EMS?

I do not want to use the autotune feature of the EMS so anything besides that?

the sensors have life long expectancy of around 60k miles usually after you gget your tune done you dont really need the wideband anymore. The wideband is there just for the tune and should be removed after it has been utilized.

I just wanted to ride with it on as a safty feature. Incase anything goes wrong and I see it leaning out. I blew one motor once b/c I leaned out. I think better safe then sorry.

why did you lean out. did you overboost or do somethign not in your orginal tune. If you tune the car for specific set of conditions with little room for saftey you shoudl not need a wideband over and over again. the lsu4 sensors wear out at specific range the lsu4 with lead wears out even faster

BUMP, I was wondering about the same thing with leaving it in for daily driving, because if the sensors are accurate, i wouldn't mind replacing it every 60k, so let's here some more input.

60k miles == 4 to 8 years of driving for most people. who cares about a few dollars for a sensor at that rate?

Haha, I wish. 60K miles = about 2 years of driving for me.

closed loop feedback at WOT is a major benefit of the aem system. I drive around with my wideband in all the time, except when i take it out to tune someone's car and I'm too lazy to put it back in my own.

if you dont use leaded fuel it wont kill the sensor, just ensure the heater turns on everytime you start the car.
generally, you use the wb to tune, then take it off and use a narrowband for daily driving. if during your daily driving your o2 feedback from narrowband says 14.7:1 at WOT get off immediately and recheck with the wideband. The narrowbadn is accurate around 14.7

well I only have a autometer a/f guage so I will not be using that to monitor my a/f.
I called FJO and spoke with someone there. They said thier unit is designed to only heat the sensor when it is needed. They said there is a lot of myths about leaving the unit on while the car is not on. He said the only thing their unit will do if you leave it on with out the car running is kill the battery after a while. He claims there is not harm done to the sensor itself. He said the sensor should last well over 60,000 miles. I asked him about other units and he said well I don't know I just know FJO. So we will see. I am going to run mine all the time better to be safe then sorry. If something goes wrong I would like to know that my car is leaning out.

as long as its tuned right, you don't need to use wideband at all times, narroband works pretty good for overall reference.

I think FJO uses ntk instead of bosch, so same applies. driving on the wb02 sensor with leaded fuel will kill the sensor, more drastically if no heater is turned on. The mor emileage you put on the sensor the more inaccurate it will become over time, but its your choice.
