Default Why is low compression Betta!?

i am getting the B18A and putting a t-25 garret turbo on it....the engines compression is in the 9's now. i want to put 8:5 pistons in it....why is this better? i know it helps the engine handel more boost.

lower compression = less chance of detonation = more boost

I thought that lowering the compression just lowers the overall cylinder pressure? From what I understand, a Honda block can only take something like 1600psi, and if you have say a 10:1 compression ratio, you can only run something like 7-8 psi before you start exceeding 1600psi cylinder pressure. When you lower your compression ratio to 8.5:1 for example, you can now run something like 18 psi (not too sure on these numbers here, so don't quote me) and still maintain a cylinder pressure of 1600psi.

On a side note, is there some formula as to how much boost you can run on a certain compression ratio? For example, if I had say an 11:1 compression ratio, how much boost can I run before I blow something up?
