Whoa! this is ugly!
I pulled the plugs from my g/f's 93 GS-R (150k miles, bad #4 oil ring), this is what I pulled out of #4

Pardon the quality, it slowly getting dark out so i'm battling with light. Anyways, Is that ugly or what!? The electrode is cracked with a chunk missing, the upper electrode/arc has alot of deposits on it with a little damage also and the whole thing is black. Not oily to the touch, but i'm sure this has to do with the fact that the #4 oil ring is all but gone. I also did a compression test on it today:
145 170 185 190
According to the shop manual, it should have 184psi with a minimum of 135psi and a max. variation of 28psi. Looks like #4 is gone, #3 is on the way out, while #1 & 2 are still in decent shape.. I never new oil could cause so much detonation!

My Mustang eats plugs alive... in the #7 cylinder... it's BAD. missing electrodes completely, breaking ceramics... All because of some crappy rings or valve seals <haven't wasted time to find out which yet>
Ouch Dave!! That **** looks straight out of the ngk site as a demo for a mechanical failure!!
.. Good thing you took it out nowthan later but I hope not to late.
