which one do i need to drop my CR to ~9-9.5:1 from 10:1??

reason i didn't lower CR with pistons is b/c i didn't think i was actually gonna be able to turbo the engine right away, and i didn't want it to be so low that i would be getting my *** kicked by some riceboi's SOHC Civic

Golden Eagle does not sell thicker head gasket, only over bored ones up to 87mm

I have an Inline Pro 2mm headgasket..drops from 10:1 to about 9:1....its 300 bucks.

Would using 10:1 pistons and a thick headgasket to have 9:1 compression make less power than a motor with just 9:1 pistons and stock headgasket ?

Good question. I don't think I've heard that one before. Let's see what other's say now. I personally would say the 10:1 with a thicker gasket would make less power because you're running with a piston designed to have a set value of quench for combustion stability, and lowering the quench area reduces the stability. With the lower compressin piston you mantain the actual quench and thus the stability remains. Tough to say because every engine is different even with the exact same set-up. Damn grain variances always messing with my head. I hate those damn variables with a passion. I would like to hear others opinion's on this too.

ok, so, basically what happened....... i ordered pistons from a local shop to come from JE, 9:1 comp pistons, built for turbo and nitrous, but overbored to factory specs... well, when the pistons arrived, they had a small dome on them, i was like "WTF?" so i compared them to my stock ones, and other than being slightly bigger, and having slighty larger relief areas for the valves, they were basically the same. i called the shop, and they said they couldn't do anything about it b/c they were a special order item. so i was like, ok, big deal, even after i get the motor built, it's still gonna be a while till i boost it, so, this will be good for some NA daily driving. well, i ended up turboing it as soon as it went back together, so there i was. after talking to a few people, they said i could run 10:1 comp, but then after a while, i decided it was going to be a bad idea, so now i want a thicker headgasket to lower the compression donw to ~9:1

told ya'll it was a long story

Viren: what's the price on thos gaskets? when will you have some more??
