When going boost, what guages are needed?
Im in the process of aquiring a DRAG kit. I need to know which guages are necessary, which ones are nice to have, and which I shouldnt even wate my time thinking about. Im not refering to the brand of guages, but what they display.
I know that you cant have a turbo without a boost guage, but what else do you suggest? I will also be getting AEM EMS.

Air/Fuel and you should be fine. Some say to get an exhaust temp gauge to monitor the heat coming out of your engine to make sure you're not burning up your internals but I dont think its very neccessary.

Think I"m going a/f, oil pressure, fuel pressure, egt, and boost, maybe I"m over doing it?
cant be too safe. i got an oil pressure and boost gauge, and im liking them a lot. i'd suggest getting an electrical oil pressure gauge. hot oil in the cabin sorta worries me
I agree about getting electrical oil pressure, esp. after reading someone experience with hot oil not to long back.
You could always use those isolator box things autometer sells now... keeps fuel and oil out of cabin but retains accuracy of mechanical they say.

yea i got elec oil press and boost so far.
i'd get egt if it werent so damn expensive and then u still gotta drill ur manifold. maybe when i get more money
now just gotta wait for the kit to get outta backorder and to my door

the autometer a/f guage is a waste of money because it is not accurate what so ever, its good for looks though. anyways, the greddy egt guage is a very good investment. with the input you get from the guage you can monitor if you need to richen or lean your fuel. as everyone else stated, get a boost guage also.

boost, egt, fuel press if your running a fmu, and maybe oil pressure if you want. only get a/f if its a real one...if it uses the stock O2, then its just crap.
if the autometer a/f gauge is a waste of money, then which one is good?

..i like the lights...got to have some rice!
other than that,

thanks guys, Im getting the AEM EMS, so do you think I should have a fuel guage for that?
so Boost, EGT, Oil, and Fuel. (wallet starting to cry already...)
I contemplating to hide the guages to make the interior look more or less stock like, maybe the glove compartment...?

hide them in the glove box very smart idea..
how often do you need to be looking at these?
are these only needed when you are driving hard or you constantly need to monitor them?
you atleast need to see your boost gauge.
I hid my autometer piece of crap here so it doesnt' bother me. I also have it wired so it's only on when I turn my lights on.
..that and it's my only gauge for the time being. Yes, it's a worthless piece of crap.

boost, EGT, and oil pressure
I think I am going to sell my POS Autometer A/F, and buy a nice EGT gauge to complement my Autometer mechanical boost gauge and B&M under-hood fuel pressure gauge. Then I am mounting the EGT with the boost gauge in my Tsunami gauge bezel and scrap the A-pillar pod. sLeEpEr oWnZ jo0!!
