Default Whats wrong with this pic???

So i was ran someone last night and this is what happened.......






Wideband was hooked up and ran 12.1 a/f and temp was fine........ dont know what caused this to happen.... I was running 15psi ... JE pistons and eagle rods.... The piston and valve burnt up on #3 Cylinder... Any ideas??

Probably were running too much timing and you detonated.

yea, that valve + piston definately aren't "burnt up" they are EXPLODED up (detonation)

Default

O2 sensor was welded into the downpipe for the wideband... Ran perfect for a year tuned like this...

kinda looks like my #4 piston when i blew.. hope things work out... is your motor sleeved or just stock sleeves?

It's a Benson sleeved block, and he is running a hondata s200b with I believe 720cc injectors.

I ran it to 7k RPMS in 5th gear at about 150......... they are 740cc

hmmm , i was thinking valve float - but 7k is really not that high... I would check those injectors and see if one of them siezed/// do you remember where which gas station you bought your gas from?

... I agree .. 5th gear pulls on the highway at 150 mph do put alot of stress on the engine...

were you doing extended 5 th gear pulls repeatedly or did you simply do one throttle blip on the highway?

It was 2 pulls of 150........... I got gas from sunoco......Injector was fine.... If it heated up so much wouldnt the other ones be messed up too..???

Are the cylinder walls scratched? If not, just give it a light hone and throw in a new piston. Are those stock valves?

Not really. Not all four cylinders will blow simultaneously...one will fail then it's all over.

ooo ouch!


Just a guess...but I don't think detonation is always semetrical and even across all cylinders. I only blew one piston...the other three were perfect...
