whats wrong with my turbo???????
its not on my civic but on my sleeper car. its a 89 mazda mx6-gt 2.2 intercooled turbo. the piping from the intercooler to the turbo is made up of a similar material as the coolant lines(reinforced rubber). when i give the car gas the lines implode like something is clogged or something. i know its not a civic but i know the best people to ask are those with f/i on civics for their experience. please help if you can. oh and yes my civic is fast too but my mazda is a true sleeper. thanks for your input

Im not sure I know what exactly your asking but
Is it normal to have rubber ior plastic ntercooler piping on factory turbo cars? Yes. My friends talon and WRX have plastic and rubber IC piping.
Can the rubber or plastic ic piping wear on a '80 something car and cause it to contract and expand? Yes.

Re: whats wrong with my turbo??????? (SO3Burner)
what im asking is what could cause the hoses to implode? the hoses feel sturdy but the torbo is pulling so hard (like something is clogged) that its making the engine bog down almost to a stall and actually does sometimes. im not too knowledgable on exactly how turbo works my civic is n/a but something isnt right with the intercooler somewhere. do you have any ideas what to check?? thanks for your help.

the only thing that would cause the rubber intake hoses to "implode" would be vaccuum... either those hoses are really worn and need replacing, or you have some kind of signifigant restriction somewhere. You could use a vacuum gauge and test the readings at various points on the intake tract to reveal exactly where the restriction is. Another possibility is that the turbo is going south, and just acting as a restriction itself... if this were the case and you revved the engine, this would also result in high vacuum in the rubber intake hoses, since the motor is drawing air but the compressor wheel is either frozen or spinning abnormally slowly...
