How loud? Noticable? Does it vary depending on setup/boost level etc.? Or are all DSM 1g BOV's quiet in general?

i swapped teh hks on my car for a 1st gen dsm, i love it first time i got on it i could barely hear anything, i thought if forgot to run the vaccum line. You just hear a slight release of air...bov's are annoying IMO

My friends d16 running about 8psi with the DSM BOV just sounds like a louder rush of air. Probably wouldn't notice it if you weren't thinking about it.

thats a 2nd gen bypass valve in the pic. barely holds 12psi usually.
I have found the 1st gens to be slightly quieter than some of the aftermarket ones like the type S or ssqv but i would not call it quiet by any means, especially at any significant amount of boost.
The Tial 50 is one of the quietet I have ever heard. I run a vortec with a softer spring and it is also very quiet, quieter than my 1st gen DSM was.

Yeah, wasn't sure, that's why I didn't specify. I do know that some folks crush theirs, and that one doesn't look very crushable Works fine for low boost situations though.

The 1st-Gen DSM BOV sounds like a person blowing air through their teeth, but louder. It is still quiet compared to most other BOVs, and it is designed to be recirculated.

what do you mean? A 1g dsm will support 15lbs easy. My friend's 2g gst had a 1g dsm bov swapped on it and was pushing 18psi. So 1g dsm bov = good......2g dsm bov = bad.

I have a DSM and on my car (with a 1G valve), it's quite audible when not recirculating (at 18psi), but when I recirculate, I don't hear a thing.

I got the Apex Dual Chamber, I thought it was gonna be quiet, but it is pretty audible. It's not offensive or anything, but louder than I thought (hoped) it would be.

On a MAP car, there really isn't a need to recirc. except that it will help maintain spool inbetween shifts.
On a MAF car, there is a big difference. THe MAF accounts for all the air entering it and adds fuel accordingly. When some of that air is lost (through the BOV), there is too much fuel present and the motor stutters.

Re: whats the quietest BOV ? (Endless)
I have a cheap *** obx one from ebay.. Im running about 10psi through it and its not bad at all.. It has the sound of air rushing out which it is doing.. Alot of others have horns on them to change the sound and make it louder..
