When you're pushing a lot more boost or if you're on a larger motor the smaller BOV's will hit a point where they simply can not flow any more air, and will cause compressor surge. A larger and better flowing BOV like the Tial will eventually reach this point too, but you will have to push a lot more boost/airflow through it.

? Think of the BOV in the same context as an exhaust system. A Larger exhaust will support a higher level of horsepower than a smaller exhaust, but the large exhaust will still do perfectly fine at lower boost and horsepower levels. Same thing with a BOV. Larger means it can handle more boost and airflow, but it will still do fine on a stock motor setup. I have a Tial BOV on my setup and I was running a stock block LS/VTEC at 7-8 psi for a while.
