My car keeps making power into the 9000 range, head is LS and completely done even deburred, bottom end is balanced and crank is lightened - what do you guys have your redline pegged at.
Having stainless steel valves , springs and retainers, how safe is it to rev a turbocharged b18b higher? I am curious because i am building mine to rev in the 8500 area..... I dont want to risk floating a valve....
built head, hondata, 9k. actually, supposedly, i could take it to 10k with stage 4 map, but i ain't willing to try it. but there is no reason for me to because i have sharp loss after 8200. dropping the JRSC, we'll see just how high i'll need it with the turbo. right now i top 3rd at 9k passing the traps.

For you people reving ls motor to 8-9k rpm. Do you have the block girldle also? I'm thinking about buying the girdle for my built ls motor and was wondering if it really helps that much. Thanks Paul
The B18C1 and C5 have a smaller stroke(1.8mm smaller) and longer rods(.9mm longer than B18B/B20) and both have the girdle(stock). The r/s on the LS is worse than the GSR/TypeR due to the larger stroke and shorter rods. This means more side loading, higher piston speed, higher chance for crank flex at the same revs(8-9K), and doesn't have the girdle(stock). If your gonna rev it, use the girdle.
Tell me about the lightened crank about how much does it cost, who did it, how many pounds are removed and how big of a diff did it make how does it rev now?
Looking into that right now been trying to call Bensons' automotive.
Let know how it feels.

sorry for late reply, shouldve IM'dme, anyway, lightening the crank doesnt cost much at all, the counterweights have material removed and the entire crank is balanced with all other reciprocating parts, its done on a sunnen machine and also lowers oil windage, think my shop charges 200 for basic, 400 for total lightning, knife edging, my guys managed to take about 12 lbs off mine and only used a bit of mallory to balance one counterweight. this lowers the sideloading effect somewhat but is still no girdle.

Just want to point out that LS motors are pretty cheap.. Personally, I want to experiment with mine, I want to see what will blow the LS motor first, 11psi or revving to 7500 under semi harsh driving conditions.. I want to see how much abuse it will take and how long it will last.. In your case since you are dealing with an expensive motor, I would definitly get the block girdle and build the vavletrain.. Sleeves couldnt hurt either under that much side load..
