Default What Size is Right

ok so im turboing my 89 ef four door, i got everything but im not sure whats my best bet turbo wise. i have a garret 60/48, im looking for lots of mid range and high end power but is it going to lag like a beast?? should i go with a smaller turbo to get a quicker spool? if i go smaller i dont want it to run out of breath before my b16 does, and suggestions?

The 60/48 are the housing sizes. Is the a/r .60 the compressor side? What size turbine and compressor wheel are you running?

for a b16 a gt3071 would do very well. it will spool good and give you decent mid range and great top end. really depends on yuor budget and the power goals in mind. If you dnot have GT money there are other options for you as well. Try to contact TheShodan on here and he can set you up with a god turbo for the application, but have your goals in mind and budget beforehand

Ya you should be fine with that. The smaller exhaust a/r will help you with spool. You will have a pretty effecient setup using that turbo.

250whp or more to the wheels won't cut it with a Saab turbocharger or straight T3 (250whp is about max at a good pace), but you have to have a budget (meaning maximum willingness to spend on the turbocharger itself), what the use of the car is, what equipment that you already have (in terms of manifold , dp, and use of A/C if possible), so that you dno't have to substitute for a lot of parts after you've chosen the turbocharger.

Since this is a stock engine you'll need to ensure that the motor cna handle the additioanl stresses that more power brings, (although 250whp is well within stock limits). So, don't forget making sure that compression/leakdown tests are in order, good maintainence schedule, etc.

A lot of us can help, but you have to have a vision and a goal in mind. just "oh 250+ hp", will not do.

The Garrett .60/48 Sounds like a Saab turbocharger (some detailed pics will confirm or retract this), which will have difficulty of getting to that power level. The DSM 42lbs/min that you're using will be fine for that level, but if you want more, you'll need to change them out and retune, so take that into account.
