What is piston slap and what causes it?
Like it says what is piston slap? and what causes it? any way to prevent it? just curious heard people talking about it and wanted to know why it happened. i know its usualy on built motors let me konw

Either the piston to wall clearance is too big and the pistons are "slapping" off the cylinder walls or also forged pistons expand a lot and can sometimes slap when they're cold which isn't necessarily bad.

like the other guy said, forged pistons expand more then our stock pistons. so when they are cold they are a little smaller then when they are warm giving them more clearence to move around. the only way to really HELP prevent this is to get a piston with long side skirts and maybe an offset wristpin. for instance wisecos, i ran a set of those and they were pretty damn quiet. i am soon to be running cps, but that is only cause they didnt have the compression ratio i wanted in a wiseco piston.
