what are my options for CABLE transmissions??
there is a regular b16, a siR, and some other one that is similar to a gsr one right? which one would be the best for b16 motor with turbo? and what are the differences?? thanks guys
Y1/S1 = long gear ratio Civic/CRX SiR
YS1 = short gear ratio GSR (JDM XSi) same as the CTR and EG6 Civic
I like the short gear ratio trannies better. I use a Y21 Civic tranny in my '94 GSR and I love it.

I've had a J1 and an S1 in my car. Really nice for drag racing. Always in your power band. Not good for top end if you want to do like 150 mph on the street. Brian
Y1/J1 trannies have the same gearing as a the YS1 but do not get LSD. The S1 tranny has a wider gear ratio and a 4.266 FD. Try to locate a Y1/J1 since there are more of them than the YS1(JDM YS1's have a viscous LSD). S1 gears are in the right column.

I can't throw out the gear ratios, but I know that these are the cable trannies with the shortest geared first.
YS1 (92-93 gsr, had optional lsd in Japan)
J1/S1 (JDM integra RSi/XSi)
Y1 (JDM Civic/Crx SiR, had optional LSD)
A1/S1/YS1 (USDM 90-93 integra ls/rs/gs)
Do not ask me why they used the same designations for 2 completely different trannies, as I have seen a YS1 transmission in a stock 92 LS. I have the Y1 w/LSD, 1st gear is way too long and fourth sucks too. The gsr YS1 is very close to the J1/S1, but it may be worth it to get the YS1 due to the fact that you can get rebuild kits here in america for it. I think there are some discrepancies with the differences in the USDM/JDM trannies and it may be worth it to just stay USDM.

The rebuild factor is moot since the JDM YS1 and USDM YS1 use the same synchros. There are two different YS1's(GSR and LS) in the US but the JDM YS1/Y1/J1 all have the same gear ratios. The CRX/Civic S1 tranny is a wide gear ratio slug.
JDM YS1 comes standard with an LSD and it was only available in the lightweight RSi. RSi's get YS1's only. USDM GSR YS1 and JDM RSI YS1 have the same gear ratio. The RSI YS1 evolved into the hydro Y21/S21.
YS1/Y1/J1/Y21/S21/SC4(CTR)/Y80('96 ITR) all have the same gear ratios with the exception of the Del Sol S21 since it gets a 3.307 first gear.
Remember ... USDM LS YS1's are wide ratio.

now thatwe have all the transmissions laid out, which one would be the most beneficial for drag racing? which is one that will have enough gear for me if i plan to run high 10's probably low 11's? On slicks of course with about 500whp? and probably about a 8500-9000rpm redline.
so i want a JDM or USDM YS1(gsr) ?
and your saying these have the same gear ratios as a b16 tranny? or what is the gearing relatable to?

It's not moot because it is not easy to find YS1's here (JDM or USDM). If you do, you will be paying up to twice as much as any other tranny on that list. The JDM y1/s1/j1 (which most of who have bought SiR swaps have) cannot be rebuilt with the USDM cable tranny synchro rebuild kits.
But as far the question, we have made it clear in many other threads that the tightest geared tranny will net you the fastest 1/4 mile times. Therefore, the YS1 is your best bet.

none. can't have everything. you could look for an LS YS1 and swap the gsr YS1 gears
