I ran into a killer deal from a buddy on a precision 72GTS w/ a .81 exhaust. My goal is to get into the 9's this year and break 700hp. Is there any downsides to this turbo? My buddy was only making 711hp at 35psi. and couldnt get past 10.3 @150 and im just afraid im not going to be happy with it. he only wants $750. Is it worth it to use until i get more cash for the s372?

EDIT: I MEANT 72GTS turbo not gt42.

 

If you are referring to a GT42S then i say nogo!! the only large frame journal bearing turbo to consider is a BW. A journal bearing GT42 is going to be way too laggy, even on a drag car unless you are turning some high rpms...

 

I edited the post... i meant 72gts turbo from precision. its a t4 w/ .81 ar i believe it has the "H" cover. So what do u think about this one?

 

There is no reason why this unit cant make 900hp.

That is a good deal for that unit.
