is there ANY way I can get the head bolt off when it's partially stripped? i don't want to strip it anymore... stupid craftsman socket cracked so it stripped it partially... please help.. thanks

You can try going one size smaller and jam it in there to take it out.

What size socket are you using? And did you manage to unscrew it at all?

I dont think you can use vise gripd on the headbolts, they are recessed in the head.

yeah i was using a 6pt 14mm and it snapped which kinda stripped the bolt... and now i'm afraid it'll be stripped completely if i try again.
i was only to loosen the bolt a 1/4 a turn
the dremel the bolt idea is great! i think i'll try that.

i think craftsman has a stripped bolt remover i did that to on e fo the headbolts i stripped it came right out with no problems

If i;m not mistaken the headbolt take 13mm 12 points socket.
nah it's a 6pt 14mm bolt.. i tried the 13mm 6pt.. too small

go to sears and ask them for the stip bolt remover i beelive it comes in a set of 10mm to like 17 mm its about 20 bucks use it and return thats waht i did

Get the metriwrench set! Dont knock it till you tried it cause it saved my *** a few times when the craftsman sockets didnt want to grab.

those stripper removers works great.. i have set here as well they are 17.50 at local sears.

next time use a impact socket to take head bolts out. Those sockets dont give for anything and your not gonna snap em either...if you do your more of a man than i am
