Default What could be wrong?!?!?!

I finished installing my turbo, got all of the leaks fixed from the coolant lines, oil lines and charge pipes. Drove it down the street, went slow the first block, got around a corner punched it made it half a block and engine started extremly bogging down. Pulled to side of road went to accelerate into parking lot and when I pressed on the gas there was no effect at all. The engine was sputtering from about 200 - 400 rpms. Also there was smoke or vapor coming from behind the exhaust manifold.
First I tried the easy fix of making sure the timing didn't get knocked off. Timing is fine.

So I went to the answer that made more sense the head gasket, answers the throttle question (no compression) and also the smoke/vapor coming from the headgasket area.

So tonight I pulled the head and took off the headgasket. Under inspection I can't see anything wrong with it. Their are a couple of areas that look slightly rusty however the car has been sitting for about 2 month untill I had time to work on it.

How visible would problem areas be on a headgasket. Is it possible for it too look fine?

Valves and pistons looked fine after quick look. No water or coolant in the oil pan. Any ideas, what could be wrong? I am putting a new gasket on in 2 days, but now am worried that it might not be the fix.
