What car for a 2jz?
i am lookin into a new car for the shop, i want to sell my h22 turbo civic and build a rear drive 2jz screamer.
i am leaning towards a 88-91 e30 bmw, they weigh something like 2200 lbs. what do you all think?

BMW will more then likely need a custom rear end as even a M3 one is probably not very strong but it would be a cool choice mating the Euro/Asian.
The 240SX,RX7 etc are all pretty played out not that really matters but none the less.S2000 would be cool to throw a R200/230 in the back.

well i should give my goals, what i was looking for is primarily a drag car, i will drive it on the road. i was thinking about a gt42r and an aem.

yea if you want something like that then maybe a small yota truck and cut alot of **** off of it to make it lite. or you could just make more power from the 2j to make up for the weight.

theyre not exactly the same 2jz though..

1984 chevy corvette. you could pick one up cheap. If people can put LS1's into rx-7 why not a 2jz or 13b in a corvette. if my father gave me his car I would like to try it.

89-92 toyota cressida. comes factory with a 7m and using different year mounts (chaser) you can bolt a 2jz into it. my coworker had a 1jz in his now is doing a 1.5jz. jzxproject.com if you wanna look into some of it.

For a 2jz engine, I would suggest 2 cars
1.) Nissan 240sx
2.) Honda S2000
I know of a guy from Houston that has a 240sx with a built 2jz motor running 8 sec 1/4's on drag radials with plenty of boost and nitrious. He is making 1200 hp but he is only running drag radials and not full slicks, lol.
As far as i know he owns the import RWD Drag radial speed record still.

My vote...
I've seen them with 4g63's and there is a few running around with v8 swaps. Never seen a 2jz powered one. Awesome sleeper. Could be your next midengine supercar!

not in a corolla or starlet haha, way too big a motor for those cars. i suggested the cressida for sleeper-ness. but if a 240 is an option go to 2jzswap.com theres mount kits made for those cars, makes it a little less of a hassle.

I'd suggest a 95-95 M3, but people have boosted the stock S52 and do 450+ with little more than 10psi and a thicker MLS gasket, its just the tuning options that are $$$$. The older e30 M3's are light, came with I4's, and can be modded if you know where to get parts for cheap. People often slap the I6's in there, but just an S52 motor w/o wiring/accesories/tranny costs almost $4K. They're still raced, and what better chassis to build on than one that's won the most races as any car in Europe?
Besides those, pick a cool pre-80's Datsun and its a done deal.
