went to the dyno problem though please help
went to the dyno low #'s and seems like vtec not working
d16z6 in a dx civic
14b turbo
tuned with chrome pro currently 8 lbs
450 cc injectors
full msd ignition (cap wires coil)
ngk v power gapped at .28
2.5 inch piping thermal exhaust gutted cat
act 12 lb flywheel/stage 2 clutch/pp
i only got 165 whp and 140 tq wtf??
the question is my speedometer only works sometimes not all the time and it wasnt working at the dyno pull, and ive heard if your speedometer does not work then niether does your vtec
also i hooked up a vtec led and (power went to solenoid green/yellow and groungd went to 330 ohm resister then to ground)
the led does not come on????
any help is appreciated

meant to say speedo since that signal comes from your vss. if you have an electrical vss check to make sure its plugged in, and if its mechanical check to make sure the cable is all the way in

I always here people say vtec wont work if vss isnt working, but I've had vss problems before, and it never affected vtec actuation. Would this depend on what ems is being used?

Yes, with different ems you can control the parameters for vtec to engage.

I have a 1993 Honda Prelude Vtec
This same problem happened to me today.
I was normally driving and then my speedometer went out. Then later on I noticed my vtec wasnt kicking in.
As I read above, it is my vss input that is the problem.
Could someone please inform me what a vss input is and where it is located.

yah disable speed check in crome... if u aren't going anywhere on the speedo it wont engage.. in neutral stoped it wont work but if u are rolling it will ...Disable it and u will hear the brilliant angelic call of vtec mmm so good
