Default well , that was short lived.....

Hella_JDM's motor is hella-not good.....
d16y8 turbo gone bad.
I started noticing excessive blowby from the crankcase , started to get worried . went to investagate further . tried to reroute the catch can , i took it for a drive to see how it was . and it went by by . i got on it on the freeway , 10 psi . after letting off the gas thinking everything was fine , i look back to see a huge cloud of smoke . i got off the freeway and stoped at a red light . when i took off the car sounded like a wrx with exhaust(but with the power of a pocket bike) and was billowing white smoke . i was pretty pissed considering i had just tuned it . oh well . time for a gsr turbo.

That was the worst feeling in the world, to feel my motor blow. Hey, at least you got to drive your car home, mine wouldn't even run after I cracked the sleeve.

When you were getting blow by, was it shooting out oil or just air/pressure from the valve cover breather? Also, you wouldn't of happened to have done a compression check would you? If you did, what were your numbers?

Don't know if this would help, but Cyphear was working on his catch can and hooked it up differently, soon after driving smoke started billowing out of his exhaust. I thought for sure it was blown, hoverever after hooking up his catch can differently it slowly dissapated the smoke away and the car is fine. Thought i would throw that in since you were messing with your catch can.

how did he have it hooked , this might help me..... im pretty sure its done though.... smoke and oil were shooting out of the valve cover breaker hose , smoke was billowing out of the exhaust and the car sounded like it was on 3 cylinders.

i was running emanage which i couldnt complain about .

and no i didnt do a comp check . dont really feel there is a point now. im positive the rings/ringlands are gone . i dont know if i wanna throw pistons and rods in there or what. i think for now i will pick up a b16 and drive the car for a while you know?

nickW i was running the greddy kit at 10psi . every motor is different , ive seen d series turbos last years on 14psi , and ive seen them go at 9 psi like its cool. wanna buy my turbo kit?

oh its all good im on the up and up . the block didnt birth a rod so i think im still good . im sure just a couple pistons melted and the ringlands went to hell.

i think im just gonna throw some cp pistons and eagle rods in there . and live at 12psi for a while . ill keep the kit .

ya the_hx i know the feeling . your like , "ok it happened do me , i didnt think it would ever happen , but it did." its hard to come to terms with reality i didnt want to.
