wb o2 sensor life?
i was reading through the instructions for the lm1 that i just got. there is a warning stating that exposure to hot exhaust gases when the sensor is not warmed up, may damage the sensor.
my question is... this may be a dumb one...
must i turn my key to "ac" and let the meter warn the o2 sensor before i start the car? What's the best approach to maintaining the o2 sensor?

drive the car normally.
The sensor heats up fast enough that it'll be ok. All the OE's do it that way so I wouldn't worry about it.

it also says that you should not have the lm-1 on when you start the car, something about potential voltage spikes, which is why if you look at the screen when you start the car it goes blank for a second, some sort of integrated anti surge feature.
personally i turn the wb on and let it heat up and then turn the car over. ive got a few thousand miles on my sensor from doing it like this, but i have friends who logged well over 10,000 miles doing it like this, so it doesnt concern me much.

I was looking at this wideband and meter http://www.wmsracing.com/o2/index.htm
They say it is good for about 100k miles. Unless you use leaded gas, then it is cut down to about 10k miles.
BTW anyone ever use that WB? Seems descently priced (I'm on a budget)
