wategate spring advise
Hey guys, Im a little unsure as to what size wastegate spring I should be using with my Tial 38mm wastegate.
My set up is as follows:
B16a head p&p full omni power valves and valvetrain w/ CTR Cams
Skunk2 68mm TB
AEBS intake Mani port matched to TB
B&M FPR w/ Gauge
GE Fuel Rail with RC 550 CC Injectors
Arp head studs for GSR
B18C bottem end Bored to 81.5mm
Wiseco 9:1 Turbo Pistons
Eagle Rods w/ arp rod bolts
Acl Bearings
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
Motorolla 2.5 bar map sensor
Greddy Type RS BOV
Turbo is a Master Power Full T4 Twin scroll ball bearing turbo. 50 trim with a .82 ar side.
Turbo Piping is 2.5" aluminum Mandrel bend.
Manifold is Ramhorn California Jay special.
3" Custom Fab downpipe with gutted Magnaflow hi-flo cat.
Wastegate Tial 38 MM wastegate. currently houses the 1 bar Tial wastegate spring.
now my question is for the wastegate spring, Im planning on doing max tune of 15psi if its safe, and street tune on 12 psi. What would be the best wastegate spring for me to go with?
I have other springs such as .3 bar (red) and .6 bar (Green)
I have been told that I should put the smallest spring as possible? Im not exactly sure how true that is.
Any suggestions and insight is greatly appreciated.
This is the first time Im boosting my car and would like to do it right.
Thanks
Travis

Use the spring for whatever you want your lowest boost to be, then you can always use a boost controller to raise it.

use the .3 spring. (.3 = 4.41 psi)
.6 = 8.82 psi
So if you use the .6 spring, your lowest boost setting will be 8.8 psi. Thats pretty high, for a beginner.

Re: wategate spring advise (mike1114)
hey ok I have 2 springs sitting here that came with the ssautochrome kits when I got them yrs ago......which I never used and ended up selling the kits as they are junk. lol.
Wondering if the springs are ok to use though? one spring is small red 0.3 bar and the other is a small green 0.6 bar.
Or I can just get the authentic Tial spring for $20.
is there any difference?
Travis
