I konw there is the waste gate on the left but what is the other actuatior on the right do this is off of a old 91 volvo and has the mitsubishi sign on the wg and the other actuatior so what is it purpose and how to hook it up

blow off valve huh thats wat I thought at first

this is what it looks like close up

this is the opening of the compressor where it sucks see on the bottom small opening

this is where it blows notice it on the opening on the top, the actuatior opens up in between to bypass the air from sucking in and going in the outlet of the compressor

this is just the other side of it see no opening to release pressure I can suck on that nipple like vacume and it opens up pretty easy

 

Yea its a recirculating BOV thats built into the turbo.

I dont see on way to adjust it so I dont know what it is set at and do I just hook it to a vacume line

also this shaft has threads on the wg for adjustment but for what to adjust

a couple of replys up I had asked about what are these threads for to adjust boost thats what im thinking

 

kinda, you dont have much adjustment with an interal gate wiht out a mbc

 

a lot of volvo guys buy a block off plate for the recirculation/bypass valve and then run a BOV on the charge piping.

 

I have a turbo xs mbc but I dont wish to raise boost wg is set at 7lbs so im going to have to live with it was only wanting 5lbs and where can I find that block off plate because I also already bought a bov

one more thing guys it is water and oil cooled how do I know which is which and do I need to have it water cooled or ya thanks alot

 

the bigger holes are ususly for water....

 

the srt-4 has an identical system.

 

and what about needing the water lines

 

I cant really tell they are both all the same size do I need the water lines

 

you dont need water lines but its kinda preferred. if you do use them make sure your cooling system can handle the extra heat
