waste controls boost?
hey guys im still new to the fi scene and im reading up on turbos still. i was wondering if the waste gate is the only thing that controls how much boost you are running or if theres other things that must be done to change the boost. thanks.
your wastegate is kind of like your "Default" setting for how much boost you are running. You can buy different springs for it, or you can get a boost controller. A MBC (manual boost controller) can be made for a few bucks. Do a search and find a ton more information.
the wastegate is the primary device for controlling boost by diverting exhaust gases away from the turbine to control turbine rpm at the wastegate spring's predetermined pressure setting.
