Default Warped flanges

Hey guys whats up. I was checking out my manifold for straigtness the other day and I noticed that all of the flanges were off by a bit, some worse then others.

So I went to a machine shop to get them resurfaced and they wanted 250.00 to do it!!! I have a basic log manifold that only cost 300. SO I backed outta that one...

What do you guys do when your flanges get warped, Can I go at it with a flat file and finish with sand paper?

Let me know if you have any ideas, Thanks.

You can try just installing it if it isnt that bad. The bolt tension might flatten it out. Anyway it doesn't cost anything to give that a try. You can not really do any thing except make it worse with a file and sand paper. Go to another machine shop, I had some flanges machined flat for $25. 1/2" thick carbon steel isn't that easy to machine, but 250 is rediculous.

Great news,!!! I shopped around and found a shop to do it for $100. Way better then the 250 I was quoted...

the problem you have is called thermal expansion... is your flange one solid piece?
