how much power do you want to make? there are a ton of ls-t's making great power. check out the ls-turbo thread, and i think there is an ls-vtec turbo thread too. maybe these will help you in your decision

I'm doing a 450-500whp Turbo 2.0L Non-Vtec B18B. It can be done. Its not hard actually. Just have to know what components to use. I say NON-VTEC FTMFW

What to use internal wise is what im confused on.....i see alot of guys putting down the numbers i want without doing near as much as i would have thought to do. running without sleeved blocks, not doing any head work. I just want a car i can turn the boost up on, kill a few evos, then turn it down and be able to drive to college and back without the worry of blowing the motor because i want this car to last.

Yeah, woohoo, charge him on with your cries of FTMFW! Nevermind the fact that if you had a VTEC head you could do it with a fatter powerband, less boost, and probably cheaper

Well after doing some looking around I think I like having torque before 4500rpm.

My reasons for going Non-Vtec are mine. Simple as that.

lol..... you have the best of both worlds with a LS/V

But like you said. Its your choice and your car and thats all that matters is that your happy with it I hate the people who try to build other peoples cars

Honestly I would go with B16 head and arp head studs. You can keep bottom end stock and make about 400whp. KEY IS TUNING

To OP: It is really your choice. You can do 300 with or w/o vtec. I would just boost your stock ls for now and decide later if you wanna go lsv. GL.

Are you talking about on c16?? Or is the new stock block whp quasi-limit 400whp? I ask this as he is looking for 300-350 on pump. And I say this because he is talking about a dd. Don't think he wants to run c16 in a dd.

From what I've been reading, those horsepower goals are attainable with an LS or VTEC head. I have chosen to do the ls/vtec turbo to get to my present goal off 300-320 because I want a better powerband, since you'll have one cam profile that's opimized for your lowend, and one for high end. Hopefully that'll improve my torque curve.

How long will it last? Who knows maybe a couple trips down the track, or a whole season. It's been done too many times to count.

I say just stick with the nonVTEC, you will hit your 300whp goal with ease. Besides you are just using it as a quick commuter car to school, an LS-T will do just fine for you.

What cams did you use?

My boy wants me to jack the boost up higher and upgrade cams on my SC B20. My other option is to pick up a port/ polished B16 head and covert her over to CR-vtec, still with the huffer.

The Vtec conversion would obviously cost more, but which is gonna give more output?

The vtec head will give you the power more easily. Stock, a vtec head is more efficient than the non-vtec variety. I wouldn't bother with the port and polish unless your getting a really good deal on it. A stocky b16/itr/ctr/gsr head would be fine. Your limit is gonna be those b20 sleeves. If your block is stock I would say swap the b20 (b20b is better for boost stock than the b20z) out with an ls and drop a vtec head on it. If your not lookin for more than ~350whp I would just stick with the non-vtec head. A lot of people make really nice power with no vtech.

"Huffer", heh, mosdef old school there.
