Vtec wont open...
What up H-T members... my friend has a 93 hatch with a fully built gsr turbo motor that he finallly got started. The day he started it he went to get it tuned and when he got on the dyno Vtec wouldnt open. Without Vtec and only 5 psi he dynoed at 163hp to the wheels. One of the main problems he has is that he has really low oil pressure witch is y i think Vtec wont open but he seem to think otherwise... My question is what r some problems that may cause Vtec to not open and how do i fix them and also how do i fix the problem of low oil pressure?? please i need answers soon this car need to be at e-town april 30 and it still needs to be tuned....
please bump this thread if u look... thanks eveyone!!

OIL PRESSURE! you answered your own question....
VTEC is very dependant on Oil P.
pull the solenoid and make sure the screen in there is clean and nothing is blocking it

Re: Vtec wont open... (Turbo_B18c1)
vtec won't engage w/o enough oil pressure (hence the vtec pressure switch).
I'd be more worried about low oil pressure than vtec not engaging on a brand new built motor... heh.
