Default Vortech Supercharger

Ok well I bought a 95 civic CX.. No motor, perfect body great price..

I want to put a JDM b16a in it and I was thinking about a Vortech Supercharger system and before I go and buy it I was wondering if any of you can tell me pro's or cons about it ..

And if you would not go with it, what would you recommend?

Thanx Lance

The tq and hp numbers obviously depend on hundreds, if not thousands of different configurations/setups. I'm sure he was looking for a better, more in depth, answer than that. lol

Click on the picture to make it bigger. See that shitty curve on the bottom that starts off making almost no boost, and slowly raises to redline? Yep, that's the AWESOME vortech supercharger. See the curve that starts off already above the vortech at low boost, then catapults way above the vortech all through the midrange? Yeah, those are turbos.

Vortech PROS vs. Turbocharger
NONE

Vortech CONS vs. Turbocharger
Less Midrange power/boost
Need to change pulley to change boost
Makes less power per pound of boost due to crankshaft losses
Places additional strain on front main bearing and crankshaft
Noisy at idle
EXPENSIVE

So lets see, you're paying MORE money for an inferior power adder. People say blowers make all this low end power, but the only blowers that make great low end power are roots blowers and twin-screw blowers. You can see the boost curve of a roots and a twin screw blower on the top of that chart, they both start off quite high at low RPM's, although the roots tails off a bit. That chart is from a mustang magazine, but boost is boost, the curves are not going to change with a smaller motor or a larger motor.
