what
if its not a turbo, you guys are unaware?
its a belt driven turbo, come on, someone must have some dyno plots, the only ones I can find are from vortech, and scc, and I am not sure if I believe them!

Here is one of several we have done with vortech supercharger. This is the same car with 8psi, and then 10psi.
Mod list: skunk2 manifold, msd 6btm ignition, comptech header, random tech cat., greddy sp exhaust and VAFC. Stock internals still running strong for 11 months now and daily driven. This is one of our customers cars. Very fun to drive, hangs with ss camaro's on the street! (priceless looks from domestic owners)

Re: vortech gains??? and will a vortech fit on a b16a sol???? (TheX-Man)
i don't mean to bring up old a$$ threads ... but my search didn't come up with too much info ...
i've been thinking about going b16 w/ a vortech sc for my 96 civic ... will i be able to hit low 13's w/ full interior on this set up and half-way decent driving?? ...
so far i've only read about vortech b16's running low 14's and that doesn't sound too appealing for the price, nah mean?
thanx.

My first question, why in the hell would you rather have a vortech sc than a turbo?
And no, you won't go low 13's with the sc in a street car unless you run a ton of boost. With a turbo you will easily...

Re: vortech gains??? and will a vortech fit on a b16a sol???? (tony1)
well, i want something that's pretty low maintenance and i was told that with an sc there's less to worry about and less up-keep than a turbo ... but anyways, so if low 13's are not possible, what would be possible with that setup??

Do NOT waste your money on a vortech on a B16, and whoever told you superchargers are less maintainance than turbos is full of ****. I run a vortech t-trim on my mustang right now, but it only revs to 6500 RPM's. It makes full boost @ 6500 RPM's. Vortechs and prochargers make very linear power, which is why they totally suck *** for a civic or any other high revving motor. I'll make you a little example graph in excel to show you what I mean.
I love how people complain about turbo lag when they buy a vortech. Running a vortech is just like running a turbo that takes forever to spool, and makes less horsepower per pound of boost than other turbos. See how a turbo hits peak boost early in the RPM range? That gives you a TON more torque and area under the curve, which means way better times, way more power, and a lot more fun to drive.

Boosted92 said it best....
Plus, any boost is high maintenance... you gotta pay to play... either cash or elbow grease. The only low maintenance option you can get is use the boost money to rebuild the engine for all motor.

Re: (X2BOARD)
thanks for all the advice and info guys ... i really appreciate it ... i guess i'll give turbo a lot more consideration ... but i still have a while before i can even do anything ... gotta save $$
and yeah, i know all motor is low maintenance ... but i don't think i can really get too much power to stay cali smog legal ... or can i?
what about the greddy turbo kit? is that any good? what other turbo kits are smog legal?
does anybody have any experience with the jrsc?
