Re: Vitara Piston / Connecting Rod Question..... (LuckysD16)
So which ones would be best for 8-15psi of boost -- Eagle, Tuner Toys, Probe I Beams??? I also heard that probe I-beams are only supposed to be used for high rpm or nat asp engines???

you could use LS rods, but the need a wrist pin bushings and im not sure about the rod bearings needed
but really, any aftermarket rod listed in this thread, would work just fine

epic tuning's car had 4 bent rods.... stock rods are no good past 300 for sure.
several people have used the I beams, but most run eagle or TT H beams. you can't use b18b/a rods without mods, just get d specific.

Re: Vitara Piston / Connecting Rod Question..... (wilham320)
Or just try out my new Forged rods designed specifically to run the vitara piston on the D16 engine and to bring the CR up. The rods has a custom length to bring the piston up to the top of the sleeve.
With Eagles/TT/SCAT CROWER..you name it rods the CR will be VERY low cause the piston stays down almost 2mm below deck height.
These new rods have an I beam design and will handle over 500whp...
But if you decide to go with H beam rods we also have an H beam standard length design. These rods will handle as well more than 600whp and their price is much more attractive than the other brands.
Its a very well constructed rod and Forged 4340 steel, shot peened, balanced..etc... Same as the other brands.
I beam and H beam deigns together mounted on Vitara pistons....
Sorry about the blurines on the pics... My camera is not that great but i will have better pics soon.

Seriously whats so hard to make a decision about this? Your talking about running 8-15psi of boost which isn't going to put any serious stress on the rods. Just get the standard eagle/tuner toys/scat type rod or something like fjt is offering and call it a day. Why are you going to run B series tuner toys rods when they make them for the D?

I've put down 281 on mine for a year now.

Re: Vitara Piston / Connecting Rod Question..... (bzyq2001)
Just FYI, I used probe I-Beam rods with Vitara's and it required some maching to get them to work. I think the probe I-beams were disigned with the idea that you'd be doing a larger than stock bore on the motor because my rod's wouldn't fit thru the cylinders when assembly time came so there was a few thousandth of an inch removed from the outer sides, nothing extreme, just to get them to fit in there. Also the block was notched and the underside of the piston was shaved a hair for clearance. In the end, the machine work took sometime and a lot of patience, but I'm still very happy with the outcome on how it looks. Motors not completely done yet so cant say how they're holding up but my machine guy/owner and founder of McCabe Motorsports says that they should hold just fine considering they are nearly three times thicker than the stock rods were lol. Here's a pic. and there's many more in my build thread if you'd like to see some of the machine work.
Heres the best pics I can find of my probe/vitara setup, lost all my pics when my comp crashed. My build thread should have a few more though if you need to see.

any brand h beam rods will fit, youll just have to notch the block to make clearance for the h beam rod...
