which valvesprings/retainers are best?
Im building a head this winter and I need some input on a set off springs/retainers...I am planning to get stage 2 crower camshafts w/ the forced induction option and I dont know if there is much of an advantage to any specific springs/retainers...I am trying to stay on a budget and I know that the Crower, Buddy club, and Skunk 2 are a few that are around $400 for a package...My car is a 97 integra w/ a b18b (non-vtec)...any input would be appreciated

DO NOT BY CROWER CAMS!!!
You have been warned
We need to know what cams you are going to run so we can help you pick out springs. Portflows are race proven and not the most expensive. You aren't gonna wanna run a really stiff spring.

I was also interested in a valve train.
One of my N/A buddies swears by Portflow, but I heard that SuperTech was better for Turbo cars. True?

Non-vtec crower cams are great. I would go with 404 NA cams.

thanx for the feedback...
*FUCATYPER* by NA do u mean Naturally aprirated? the 404 is their 3/4 race setup correct? I didnt specify but im boosted and not sure if you are saying that they would be better over their forced induction cams...(Im looking for something that can be daily driven and is not too crazy w/ a crap idle.)

Re: (Topdawgg)
anyone ever heard of si performance? in my old head i had ferrea valve train, in the new head, i chose si performance valve train. their dual springs (which i run on both sides of course) have the same coil bind pressure as ferrea. but also, the intake valve is undercut, as well as supertech. also anything that is lighter in the valve train is a plus
what i have always been told is any work that is done within half an inch of the valve seat in the combustion chamber is where headwork is valuable.

You have anything to back that up with, especially their camshafts for the turbocharged applications?

i think he was confused most people shy away from turbo cams on the vtec motors because they arent usually worth it. stock cams for for 99% of the people.
non vtec crower cams are good from what ive seen

theres a few posts online where their cams actually snap in half while spinning in the motor.

I have'nt had a problem with buddyclub valve springs or Omni! I will let you know how the buddyclub valve springs hold up on my lsvtec turbo project that should be finished soon. My advise would be to stick with reputable companies and listen to people who's had problems with a certain products/companies.......
