... vafc hack... low boost (5-7psi)... stock timing?
... soon to be vafc hack... will be running low boost (5-7psi)... i was wondering if i will be alright with stock timing (16*+/-2)... or should i retard on the distributor 1 or 2 degrees... lemme know... thanks...
I might be trying something similar soon, and was wondering about ignition timing also: SMC-450cc-7psi-91octane-stock ignition. I'll be sure to retard it a couple degrees to start off with.
im going to be running about 8psi on my setup and will have a msd btm, should i drop the timging about 1* then like .5*/lb of boost????
because cam timming is totaly differnt.
i ran stock timming at 8psi on a b16a on 92 octain no problems.
im running stock timming on my d15 7.5psi no problems. u can retard thetimming with the edizzy like 1deg but i wouldn;t go much more. also the btm i used that when iwas at 10psi 3/4 deg per psi worked great.

stock cam is perfect for boost. the overlap is very minimal with is what you want with forced induction.
Stock ignition timing is different. most people say retard 1 degree per pound of boost. just play with it, retart a lot then work your way back until you get the first sign of detonation. then take it back 2 degrees from that point.
